Mediator code of conduct

I will not disclose any information from mediation to 3rd parties.

I will not use information from mediation for my own benefit.

I will only accept work/ cases that are within my own area of competence.

I will familiarize myself with the mediation Rules of WLS.

I will conclude mediation within 21 days unless WLS approves extension.

I will facilitate settlement. I will not give legal advice unless I am the party's lawyer.

I will encourage parties to seek independent legal advice.

I will only charge fees agreed between the parties and approved by WLS.

I will not ask parties for money outside WLS.

I will help parties draft clear, enforceable settlement agreements.

I will submit the signed settlement to WLS within 24 hours of such signing by the parties.

I will be respectful, punctual and prepared.

I will not tolerate abuse, threats or bad faith from any party and will report any such conduct to WLS.

I will not accept appointment if I cannot be impartial.

I will not make public comments about any WLS cases which I am handling or which I handled in the past.

I will maintain appropriate professional insurance and WLS verified status.

Breach of this code may result in warning, suspension or permanent removal from the WLS platform and mediator panel.

WLS may investigate any complaint against me and I will cooperate fully.

I will notify WLS within 7 days if any professional license, regulator status or insurance changes.

I will only use the WLS platform to communicate with parties during a dispute.

I will not download or share party data outside WLS.

I will log out and secure my account after each session .
